Avoiding Pitfalls When Traveling to Beidaihe, Qinhuangdao!

I traveled from Shijiazhuang to Qinhuangdao. Although there has been a lot of criticism about Qinhuangdao in recent years, it’s just so close. Plus, I wanted to visit Anaya for some photo opportunities. I really fell into some traps! As a Chinese person, I can speak from experience! Here are some pitfalls and suggestions for everyone. 😭

1️⃣ The sea in Qinhuangdao is not blue! Don’t come expecting the vibrant blue water you see in pictures. I just went for the convenience.

2️⃣ Tiger Stone charges an entrance fee!!! There are many rocks inside, so it’s good for photos, but you mostly just get to see the sea. There’s a free beach further east with soft sand, and many people were swimming there.

3️⃣ I really have to complain about transportation in Qinhuangdao! It costs about 10 RMB per hour in scenic areas, with a maximum of 40 RMB per day. The bus rides take a long time, and it’s hard to find shared electric bikes! I recommend driving if you can.

4️⃣ Be sure to catch the sunrise at Anaya, Blue Coast, or Dove Nest! I especially loved Dove Nest! You don’t even have to go in; just find a nearby high point to watch the sunset!

5️⃣ Hotels in Anaya during peak season are very expensive!! Prices start at around 2000 RMB, but the environment is indeed nice! You might even run into a celebrity!

6️⃣ Don’t look for scalpers at Anaya!! It’s easy to get scammed! Just make a reservation through the Anaya official WeChat account in advance! If you’re staying in Anaya, they can help with reservations.

7️⃣ Tickets for the “Lonely Library” sell out instantly! It’s really hard to get them. 😭 I ended up buying an art ticket for 100 RMB.

8️⃣ The Blue Coast is amazing for photos!! I took plenty on the wooden walkway. It has a very artistic vibe, and it’s free to access!

9️⃣ I recommend staying in either Beidaihe District or Haigang District! Beidaihe has more concentrated attractions, while Haigang is more convenient for dining. But the two districts are quite far apart!

🔟 The closest station to Anaya is Beidaihe Station. After exiting, you can order a ride-hailing car directly to your hotel. There’s also a shuttle bus from Anaya High-speed Railway Station, costing 10 RMB and taking about 25 minutes!

1️⃣1️⃣ The food at the fourth cafeteria, like sweet rice skin, Jianbing Guozi, chicken soup wontons, steamed dumplings, sour and spicy beef tripe, grilled vegetable pancakes, and stuffed skins, is really delicious! If you stay at Anaya, you must try them!!

1️⃣2️⃣ If you don’t stay in the resort area, you can’t take the free shuttle bus, so you’ll have to rely on your feet💃, which can be tiring! Also, you can’t use the cafeteria for purchases, although some shops allow it. If you want to catch the sunrise, I recommend staying in the resort area for convenience. In the off-season, it’s only anlan499!!

Overall, my experience in this place had its ups and downs, but Anaya was still worth the trip. I took many memorable photos! Sisters in the comments can also add more tips!
