On October 8, 2024, the highly anticipated 2024 IMEX America grandly opened in Las Vegas, USA, attracting tourism industry elites and business people from all over the world to attend. The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, along with enterprises such as Jinjiang Tourism, Spring International Travel, Shanghai Real Estate Hotel Management Company, and Shanghai Jingda International Business Exhibition and Travel, participated in the exhibition to fully connect with the North American MICE tourism market and deeply promote Shanghai’s urban cultural tourism resources.

For this travel exhibition, the Chinese delegation was led and organized by the Los Angeles Tourism Office. Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Shaanxi provinces and cities jointly participated. The overall design of the Chinese exhibition area was themed “Hello! China”. Through creative and distinctive display methods, a sincere invitation was sent to global tourists. The posters of urban landmark buildings at the Shanghai booth showcased the prosperity and charm of Shanghai from an international perspective, attracting the stop and linger negotiation of many professional exhibitors. During the exhibition, Shanghai’s cultural tourism sent out tourism promotional materials and souvenirs such as themed brochures, tourist maps, inbound tourism characteristic routes, and characteristic cultural and creative fridge magnets to the audience, comprehensively introducing Shanghai’s cultural tourism resources and characteristic tourist routes, attracting the attention of many participants. Exhibitors showed great interest in Shanghai’s latest tourism products, inbound tourism policies, and Shanghai’s MICE tourism resources. Shanghai’s participating enterprises actively negotiated and communicated with potential exhibitors and also gave speech presentations for the buyer group, sharing Shanghai’s latest cultural tourism resources and MICE tourism service content and advantages.

Through this participation, Shanghai’s cultural tourism successfully showcased Shanghai’s city image and MICE resources and deeply understood the latest development trends and demands of the MICE tourism industry. In the future, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the global tourism industry to help Shanghai build itself into the first stop for inbound tourism in China. IMEX America is the largest professional business conference and incentive travel exhibition in North America. This year’s exhibition will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA from October 8 to 10. It is expected that more than 15,000 participants from more than 100 countries will attend.
