Itinerary:
Depart from Beijing at 7:20 in the morning and arrive at Tianjin Station at 8:00.
8:00 – 8:30
After exiting the high-speed rail station, exit from the front square side. As you walk out, you can see the Jiefang Bridge and the Century Clock. They are very close.
Free.
The Century Clock – A large-scale urban sculpture built to welcome the 21st century.
The Jiefang Bridge – On June 12, 1901 (the 27th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty), General Vallin of the French army of the Eight-Power Allied Forces proposed the construction of an iron bridge to connect the railway station and surrounding roads. The bridge will always be open to people at home and abroad, so it is named the “International Bridge”. On January 25, 1949, the International Bridge was renamed the Jiefang Bridge.
The Haihe River under the Jiefang Bridge is part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
8:30 – 10:00
Starting around 8:30, it takes 15 minutes to walk from the Jiefang Bridge. Follow the navigation and walk to the Italian Style Street: Gathering cuisines from various countries and former residences of celebrities.
Free.
Once the Italian concession. In 1947, our country officially took it back.
10:00 – 10:30
At 10:00, after leaving the style street, it takes 5 minutes on foot to reach the Beian Bridge! Very beautiful! Under the bridge, you can see uncles diving. I also met a 98-year-old uncle exercising here!
Free.
The bridgehead sculptures adopt Western classical expression forms. The Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise symbolize peace in the four directions of east, south, west, and north. On the bridge railing pillars are four dancing music girls with different postures, holding different musical instruments in their hands, namely pipa, sheng, and xiao.
10:30 – 11:00
At 10:30, coming down from the Beian Bridge and walking for 20 minutes, you will reach the Porcelain House.
The Porcelain House – There are four floors in total. You need to buy a ticket for 50 yuan. There is also the former residence of Zhang Xueliang nearby. The ticket is 40 yuan. And there is the former residence of Eileen Chang.
Didn’t go in. Just take pictures outside.
11:00 – 13:00, lunch and rest at Henglong Plaza.
13:00 – 15:00
Starting at 13:00, ride a bike for 15 minutes to the Five Avenues. I chose a 25 yuan/person manual explanation. Otherwise, it would really be a wasted visit as you wouldn’t know what each building is for.
The Five Avenues: Composed of five avenues. Once the British concession, there are many various small Western-style buildings. Go to Minyuan Square to check in at the small Roman stadium.
15:00 – 16:00
Starting at 15:00, ride a bike for 10 minutes to the Xikai Church. Romanesque style.
Free.
16:00 – 17:00, optional if physical strength permits.
Around 16:00, ride a bike for 20 minutes to the Drum Tower & Ancient Culture Street for a stroll.
17:00 – 18:30
Around 17:00, ride a bike for 11 minutes to the Tianjin Eye. Have dinner. Then wait for the Ferris wheel to light up. But even after waiting until around 18:30, it didn’t fully light up. So I left.
At 18:30, take a taxi for about 10 minutes to Tianjin West Station.
After 19:00 by train, end the trip to Tianjin.
