“Last year, I bought the Shanxi Tourism Annual Pass and visited over 20 attractions, even catching four movies. It’s one of the best-value annual passes in the country, and it’s open to out-of-province visitors—one pass, unlimited visits across Shanxi!” This is a typical response from visitors featured in a recent short video that has sparked online interest in the Shanxi Tourism Annual Pass. For just 258 RMB, holders of this pass can enjoy unlimited access to more than 100 scenic spots, as well as free movie tickets, swimming, and gym passes.
On October 12, a Shanxi Tourism Group representative shared that this pass, which partners with more than 100 local venues and attractions, brings visitors exceptional value, allowing them to experience a wide array of destinations while promoting cultural tourism in Shanxi.
The Shanxi Tourism Annual Pass was introduced by the Shanxi Tourism Group as part of the province’s initiative to strengthen its tourism industry and encourage residents to explore Shanxi. It aligns with regional integration projects like the Central Basin City Cluster tourism initiative and serves local unions, adding to its appeal. The pass is valid for 365 days from activation, allowing holders to visit a range of participating sites as often as they like, except for attractions that specify visit limits.
Broad Access to Shanxi’s Top Attractions
The Shanxi Tourism Annual Pass covers 11 cities and provides unlimited entry to well over 100 attractions throughout the year. This includes popular spots like the 5A-rated Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon (Baqi Gorge) in Changzhi, the historical Huangcheng Xiangfu in Jincheng, the spectacular Mengshan Giant Buddha in Taiyuan, and other 4A-rated destinations such as the Ujinshan Forest Park, Hongya Gorge in Jinzhong, Manghe, and Jue Mountain in Jincheng.
Expanded Member Benefits
In addition to free admission to cultural sites, the annual pass provides three free entries to several recreation facilities, such as the Shanxi Sports Center Swimming Facility and Shanxi Tourism Digital Experience Center. Members can also enjoy three complimentary movie screenings and live performances (with reservations) from a variety of theaters and venues across the province. The pass even includes accident insurance for added peace of mind.
Visitors to Shanxi can experience the full cultural heritage on offer, as many of the top attractions included in the “Follow Wukong Through Shanxi” road trip route are covered by the pass. Highlights include the Jinci Temple in Taiyuan, Pingyao Ancient City, and the ancient wonders of Xiaoxitian and Guangsheng Temple in Linfen, along with the temples and palaces of Yuncheng such as Dongyue Temple and the Guan Di Temple in Jiexiu. While some key attractions like Pingyao Ancient City, Zhen Guo Temple, and Shuanglin Temple offer discounted rates for pass holders, most others allow free access.
Enhanced Tourism Experience for Out-of-Town Visitors
A visitor from Henan, Ji Xiaoshuang, recently embarked on a “Follow Wukong Through Shanxi” tour and found the pass to be a great resource. She purchased it upon arrival in Taiyuan and discovered that it saved her almost 350 RMB on entry fees alone to some of the featured attractions. On top of that, she could use it for various activities, including movies, hot springs, and fitness centers. Ji expressed that the pass added convenience to her weekend getaway, offering an easy and affordable way to explore Shanxi’s cities and cultural offerings.
The Shanxi Tourism Annual Pass is designed with tourists in mind, providing not only access to top attractions but also suggested travel itineraries, helping visitors maximize their experience as they journey through Shanxi.
