Mount Huangshan autumn viewing schedule:
- Early autumn – initial signs (mid-August to mid-September). At the beginning of autumn, when the “autumn tiger” is entrenched in the Jianghuai region, the footsteps of autumn have stepped into Mount Huangshan. The dreamlike beauty of Mount Huangshan begins to sublimate from the coolness of summer and turn into autumn colors.
- Mid-autumn – gradually getting better (late September to mid-October). As autumn turns cool, the temperature difference between day and night makes maples and smoke trees quietly change. From the initial light pink, they transition to fiery red. The golden smoke trees can’t wait to follow. Sunlight and mountain wind are also catalysts for red leaves and makeup artists for Mount Huangshan. Different natural conditions create a gathering of light yellow, golden, light pink, fiery red, and crimson. Looking closely, it is colorful, fantastic, and unique. Looking from afar, it is as beautiful as brocade and extremely interesting.
- Late autumn – perfected (late October to early November). This is the best time to enjoy autumn in Mount Huangshan. Frost-covered leaves that are redder than flowers in February are all over the mountains, covering Mount Huangshan with red brocade in patches and clusters, extending into the distance. When the autumn wind blows, the red leaves on the branches are like butterflies about to take flight, dancing in the wind. They are also like raging flames, extremely spectacular and stunning when seen from afar. When the west wind sweeps, the maple leaves are like boats. Eventually, there are red leaves that break free and float in the air. Fluttering like flags.
Mount Huangshan autumn viewing tips: - Travel light when going up the mountain. Bring as little luggage as possible to avoid excessive consumption of physical strength.
- At night and in the early morning on the mountain, the temperature is low. You need to prepare long pants and a thin coat to keep warm. Generally, a coat worn in spring and autumn is enough.
- Try not to go on Wednesdays and weekends (before the cancellation of free admission on Wednesdays). There are too many people. If you must go, go up the mountain in the afternoon and stay on the mountain for one night. Don’t go on holidays.
- It is not recommended to go to Lotus Peak/Tian Du Peak on Wednesdays and weekends. If you go up the mountain on the same day, either before 7 am or after 3 pm.
- It is easier to go up from the back mountain and down from the front mountain. From Yuping Cableway to Baiyun Hotel, it is almost all uphill.
- The first and second rings of the West Sea Grand Canyon have limited traffic capacity and often get congested with people. And it is not good for taking pictures on sunny days (most of the time it is backlit). However, from Baiyun Hotel to Buxian Bridge on the opposite side, there are few people and most of the time it is frontlit and good for taking pictures. The experience is excellent. It takes about 2 hours to go back and forth from Baiyun Hotel to Buxian Bridge.
- During the closure of the West Sea Grand Canyon in winter, you can enjoy the Grand Canyon between Paiyun Pavilion and the north entrance, Baiyun Hotel and Yaotai (about 15 minutes downhill one way. The return trip uphill takes a little longer. The large iron gate is next to the Yaotai viewing platform. Yaotai is not affected), and between Bright Summit and Flying Rock.
- For Yingke Pine on the front mountain, Lotus Peak/Tian Du Peak, due to the narrow footpaths and limited traffic capacity, you must reserve sufficient time to avoid delaying subsequent trips.
- The Mount Huangshan scenic area is relatively large. Sometimes there is thick fog in one area while there is a spectacular sea of clouds in another area. The weather and scenery in the same area can also change rapidly.
- Accommodation: Recommended is Huazhu • Songye Boutique Homestay, which is located in Mount Huangshan scenic area. Good service, good accommodation environment, and provides transfer services. You can directly search and book on Ctrip.
