Before visiting the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, I didn’t have high expectations. But after touring it, I was really shocked.
The beauty of architecture and the beauty of Buddhist culture make me can’t help but recommend everyone to choose a good day to visit it!

☀️ Time
7:30 – 18:30 (entry stops at 17:30).
It takes 2 – 4 hours to tour the entire scenic area. I spent an afternoon there. Just when it was sunny, taking photos was very powerful.
If you want to eat vegetarian food in the temple, it is recommended to go in the morning.
(The vegetarian meal is 20 yuan per person. No reservation is needed. It is next to the release pond at the mountain gate).

🚗 Transportation
The ancient city of Dali is very close to the Three Pagodas Temple. Friends who don’t want to be bothered are recommended to take a taxi directly. Or take Bus No. 19 at the north gate of the ancient city and get off at the Three Pagodas Park Station.
✅It is recommended to take a taxi because you will have to walk a lot after entering the scenic area. Save your energy.

🎫 Tickets
It is recommended to go to the scene and compare the prices on online platforms and offline windows. Buy whichever is cheaper.
✅I bought tickets directly at the window. Ticket + one-way battery car, 💰90.
ps: It is not recommended to buy tickets + round-trip battery car.
Take a car up the mountain and walk down by yourself. You can find many interesting places. Taking a car back and forth will miss a lot of scenery.

❤️Little knowledge about scenic spots
The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple is the only 5A scenic area in Dali. It is the royal temple during the Dali Kingdom period. It is the prototype of [Tianlong Temple] in Jin Yong’s novel “The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils”. The main tower, [Qianxun Pagoda], is a 16-level square multi-eaved hollow brick pagoda. It belongs to the typical architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. There are four characters “Forever Guarding the Mountains and Rivers” engraved at the bottom of the tower.
🧩 Tips:
1️⃣ Enter the Buddhist hall through the left door. Don’t step on the threshold. After turning around clockwise, exit through the right door. You cannot take photos inside the hall.
2️⃣ In the Bell Tower of the Giant Bell of Jianji of Nanzhao, you can take a panoramic view of the three pagodas upstairs. You can carefully observe which tower is tilted.
3️⃣ At Juying Pool, you can take a reflection photo of the three pagodas. When the sun is good, the reflection is very clear.
4️⃣ The sightseeing car can leave when it is full. I read on Xiaohongshu before that there is a free tour guide for every 6 people. We mentioned it to the staff, but they didn’t arrange it. Only tourists who bought round-trip tickets were provided with a tour guide.
5️⃣ If you buy a round-trip ticket, the tour guide will take everyone to tour from bottom to top. You have to climb to the Mahavira Hall at the top of the mountain by yourself.
